Fizan Abdullah
Dr. Fizan Abdullah is Assistant Professor of Surgery at Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine and Associate Professor of International Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is also the Assistant Program Director for the Residency in General Surgery and the Program Director for the Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Abdullah’s expertise is in surgery for infants and children with congenital anomalies as well as advanced laparoscopy. His research interest relates to lung development, tissue engineering, outcomes research, extracorporeal life support, and global surgical education. Since 2006, Dr. Abdullah has been extensively involved in global surgical initiatives throughout West Africa, focusing specifically on health system improvements and surgical education. He has also worked as a consultant for a number of World Health Organization initiatives. In 2011, Dr. Fizan Abdullah was appointed a Director of the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Abdullah graduated from Jefferson Medical College with a Doctorate in Philosophy and Medicine. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Yale University and a Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. (USA)
